Piercing FAQs

Before your appointment

Do I need to book an appointment?

Yes. Juvenis is an appointment only studio. This allows us to provide every client with a personalised experience, giving you plenty of time to discuss your piercing, choose your jewellery and ask any questions before your appointment begins. As a result, we do not offer walk-in piercings.

What is your age policy?

We pierce ear lobes from the age of 7 at the discretion of parent/legal guardian. We kindly ask that the child is understanding of the piercing process, pain involved and importance of aftercare. For cartilage, nose and belly button (navel) piercings, the minimum age is 14. Lip and eyebrow piercings require a minimum age of 16. Nipple piercings require a minimum age of 18. Please see ID policy below.

Do I need to bring ID?

We operate a challenge 25 ID policy therefore photographic ID is required for anyone who appears under 25. Parental/legal guardian consent and presence is required for all piercings for those under 18. Photographic ID is required for both parent and minor as well as the minor’s original birth certificate if surname differs.

Can I get a piercing if I have a medical condition?

Yes, but it depends on the condition. If you have any medical concerns, it’s always best to consult with your doctor before getting a piercing. Some conditions can affect healing, increase the risk of complications, or require special precautions. It’s important to always be honest about your medical history on your consent form. We will always prioritise your safety and may suggest modifications or alternatives based on your needs.

Choosing your piercing ✨

What if I arrive and the piercing I want isn't suitable?

Your safety always comes first. Every appointment begins with an anatomy assessment, and while this is uncommon, there may be occasions where a piercing isn't suitable for your anatomy or isn't in your best interests. If this happens, we'll explain why and discuss alternative options that are better suited to you. We'd much rather say no than perform a piercing that isn't safe or unlikely to heal successfully.

Can I have more than one piercing in the same appointment?

In many cases, yes. The maximum amount of piercings in one session is 3 (or 4 if they are all within the ear lobes), however this can vary depending on their location and your medical history.

During your appointment ✨

What jewellery do you use?

We use high quality implant grade (ASTM F136) titanium for initial piercings. It's lightweight, hypoallergenic, nickel free and is recommended by the piercing guidelines as one of the safest materials for healing. Mill test certificates can be provided upon request.

Is piercing jewellery included in the price?

Yes. Your appointment includes plain implant grade titanium jewellery.

Can I choose a different piece of jewellery for my piercing?

Absolutely! You're welcome to upgrade to one of our premium jewellery options during your appointment. We stock a carefully selected range of beautiful implant grade titanium designs, you are also able to pre-order any specific designs that you have in mind.

Can I bring my own jewellery?

Unfortunately we are unable to use personal jewellery for piercings. To ensure the highest standards of safety and to comply with piercing guidelines, we exclusively use sterile implant grade titanium for all piercings. Our jewellery is sourced from trusted suppliers who exclusively provide to professional piercers.

Aftercare & healing ✨

How long will my piercing take to heal?

Healing times vary depending on the piercing and your body. You'll receive personalised aftercare advice and approximate healing times will be discussed during your appointment.

How should I clean my piercing?

Gently clean the area twice a day with a sterile saline solution (we sell this for a small charge or you can source your own). Always wash your hands before touching the piercing, and don’t twist or move the jewellery while it's healing. We always provide both written and verbal aftercare during your appointment.

When can I change my jewellery?

Your jewellery shouldn't be changed until the piercing is fully healed. Healing takes much longer than most people expect, so if you're unsure, please ask before changing it.

What should I do if I think something is wrong?

Please contact us as soon as possible. Many concerns can be resolved quickly with professional advice and we'd always rather you ask than worry.

Do you offer check ups?

Yes! We're happy to assess your piercing throughout the healing process and answer any questions you may have.

Policies

Can I cancel or rearrange my appointment?

We understand that life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours notice so we can offer the slot to someone else. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will unfortunately result in the loss of your deposit. If you cancel within 12 hours of your appointment, or don’t attend, we do require full payment for the booking.

What if I'm feeling unwell?

If you're unwell or have symptoms of a contagious illness, please contact us to rearrange your appointment rather than attending.

Can I have a piercing if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?

As a precaution, we do not perform piercings during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Research is very limited as to the effects on your baby therefore please wait until you are no longer pregnant or breastfeeding before booking your piercing.
